ABOUT ME

Hi, I'm Talya!

I'm a digital historian, museum educator, and library professional. My Bachelor’s degree is in Political Science and History from Trinity College Dublin, and I have both a Master’s degree and a doctorate in History from Brown University. My identity as a public history interpreter rests on a foundation of interactive and accessible programming. From leading tours, teaching classes, creating social media posts, and writing digital textbook chapters - diverse audiences and settings have familiarized me with a multitude of ways to connect people with stories.

My own scholarship uses digital tools  to explore the stability of sexual crime and gendered violence in the English Civil Wars and Interregnum. This scholarship involved building a relational database (the Sexual Crimes and Gendered Violence database) which turned me from technophobe to technophile. I have worked on numerous digital publications for various public history organizations. See below for more information on my work, work affiliations, and work sites.
